Ain’t Nobody: Celebrating Community

I don’t know about you, but I’ve almost forgotten what it is to come together in total abandon and have a good old party. I hadn’t realised how much I’ve missed it.

As Covid fatigue kicks in, I’ve found myself looking back to picture and videos of key times when communities were gathered to celebrate the good in life and each other.

Sometimes that feels like that was a different world.

One of the best parties I’ve ever thrown was my wedding.

To finish off the rotating wedding band, made up of our very talented friends, I belted one of my favourite songs ever: Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody.

Ain’t Nobody is a song that reminds me how much I love and am loved. Listening to it now gives me a bit of joy in this moment and a hope that, somehow, times of real togetherness will come again.

I think community is vital to us as humans. For me, even the memory and hope of gathering, dancing, singing, laughing and eating together, has given my mental health a boost. I want to share that with you all with this cover.

I’ve also created some fun visuals of some of the dearest real life moments with the most wonderful people, to illustrate the spirit I’ve sung this song with.

I hope you enjoy it and take heart that one day, we will be all together again.

Turn it up nice and loud and share it with all the people you love!

In solidarity with you at this time.
